The Craft is a learning opportunity. The grail we all aspire toward, some level of transformation to a better person is unclear, as is the way one achieves it. As you will find, this is not a short-cut. It is a thought map designed to shape behaviour. I"m inclined to think it places us in an atmosphere of arguments about truth. There is room at this table for one more. A new language, emphasis on control of emotion, it is more like finishing school that combat training. MasonicFX is simply and extension of that. An acquired taste where conversation is about possibilities. Sit in as you like. We stumble along, still trying to find the edge of this interesting universe!

After we have received initiation, we have the ingredients. The rest is up to us. If free will exists and if we can agree on a common definition, we are free to do with the imperatives what we will. That responsibility is fully ours isn't it? Circumstance is never quite predictable enough. How we adapt and deal with the unexpected does begin to define. Some men have an uncanny knack of finding they are victimized by life. We spot the excuse, they favour not learning much from experience. Imagine how insufferable one becomes when he is unable to admit there is much to learn from a frank discussion with himself. Where studios of Freemasonry have compromised moral and philosophial rigour, those advantages will be absent. Fortunately, there are corners of the world where we will continue to meet and talk. Fortunately less deserving types will find some other diversion for their social calendar. We scratch the surface, of our own capability of potential. The Craft is a place where capable men go to learn beyond the barries of religion and politics. Somewhere in that we strive to find truth.

It is difficult to compare Upper Canada to the old cultures that gave birth to us. History teaches us of a convention that injects ancient references into contemporary developments to borrow on the gravitas of time. It brings... more

It is simple and complicated in the same instance. It is a particle and a wave. Freemasonry is many things and exposes itself occasionally, to like minded men. That is the rub.

As I was reading about the changes happening within my Masonic community I had an 'aha" moment. Upper Canada is a large land area. Long ago in our history, as communities grew, warrants were issued and access to Freemasonry was... more

IF a man has not understood the subtext of Freemasonry, is he able to achieve an attitude of self-examination? Imagine an apprentice showing insouciance. A curious temperment for an apprentice would you say? Why come into a values... more

Referring to a mason as a volunteer is terribly unfair though not altogether unwarranted. The division of labour has long separated voluntary and involuntary. There is a loud dustup about this-whether we might call it exploitation of... more

Thoughout history we find examples of conflict gradually building, then peace gradually restored. If we have stockpiled guns then we need targets often with an ability to justify harm to an enemy. The enemy is us I think. For those... more

How we think about Masonry depends on the viewing lense at the moment. If we think about it, considering the many philanthropic acts is a proof, not to mention the hundreds of smaller acts of generosity that flow continuously that there is... more

There is a thread. It isn't obvious or timelimited. It isn't garrish nor gender specific. It follows no formal religion but it does adhere to certain beliefs. Fragments may be all that we have to form the basis of a story about a people and a time long... more

Conflict is what it is. Whether we moralize or not, progress will always be possible when people are able to conquer their sense of nihilism. In some ways, it is a noble, necessary expression of our humanity; like trying to prevent suicide. We... more
