It was a brutal week for some, with a couple more Top 25 teams going down, including #3 Georgia, who got beat soundly by Ole Miss, #4 Miami exiting the ranks of the unbeaten with a loss to Georgia Tech, and #17 Iowa State suffered its second loss in a row, by 9 to semi-lowly Kansas. Meanwhile 2 unbeaten teams (at this point, still other games in progress), Indiana & Army, stayed unbeaten. In the B1G, the hot Minnesota Gophers went down at Rutgers, while the semi-hot Iowa Hawkeyes suffered a 3-point defeat to UCLA in the Rose Bowl, proving that maybe it IS the stadium that matters, at least for the Hawkeyes. Ohio State had an easy time with Purdue, and Penn State-Washington and Oregon-Maryland were still in progress. Avid Mike and I will discuss all this, and hets to add his thoughts--he had to actually sit through it!--on the Hawkeyes recent trend of going on the road and making their opponents look like elite teams.
