The Saturday Morning Entertainment Show
It is the last day of August and the activities for the next season have already begun. Students are back in class; the people in the North are looking forward for cooler weather. It is what they call fall and are looking forward to celebrating the events of the fall.- Labour Day this weekend, Halloween, The Election Year and all the rest. But before that, let's have one last celebration with the people who celebrate in August. Among them are our special fans Omel and Erma who celebrated birthdays this month. So today it's so long August. Next week it's hello September as we continue to celebrate with fans friends and supporters. But we do take time out to have a conversation. So Let's Talk.
August 28, 2024 marked the 61st anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington in which Dr.Martin Luther King made his famous "I have a Dream" in the march which addressed the awful plight of Black people as they navigated Americas racist society. Since then, we have seen the first Black man appointed to the Supreme Court in 1967. The first Black man was elected president in 2008. And in the upcoming elections there is a real hope and expectation that a Black woman will be elected to the presidency in November. This is called progress credited to the Civil Rights Movement. But is it? Has the society gone past its racist character? Is the plight of Black people any better today than in 1963? Has the danger to Black people abated? Come on in. Join the conversation or tell us what you want to talk about. We would be happy to hear from you.
