261: Anchoring change through sports w/ Olympic Champion Quinn and Jillian

Joe and Tom are joined by Jillian Quinn, a current Sports Management Graduate Student at Columbia University, and her twin Quinn, a professional soccer player for the Canadian National Team and NWSL club OL Reign. Quinn, a member of the Canadian soccer team, became the first trans athlete to win a Gold medal at Tokyo 2020 Olympics and a Bronze medal at Rio 2016 Olympics. A graduate of Duke University and recipient of Forbes 30 under 30, Quinn got drafted by the Washington Spirit as the third overall pick in 2018 NWSL draft. Division 1 athlete at Northeastern University, Jill shares her exciting journey from working with New Balance, developing her interest in the business side of sports to her passion for athlete activism and social justice issues. Quinn opens up about their decision to come out as transgender, the unconditional support Jill has provided throughout their journey and the special relationship that they both share. Quinn also talks about how sports has provided them with an incredible opportunity to advocate for the LGBT community and is a driving force for them as an athlete.
