The one you gave away is the one that you may not have valued at the time. The one that got away is the one that you may, or may not have valued, but they kept it moving in the process. You may have been able to keep them if you had done something different. The one that died is pretty self-explanatory, but the thing about them is that you may have looked at them as the best thing that ever happened to you, but that never got a chance to play out.
