The light skin, dark skin phenomenon has been going on in the Black community since anyone of us can remember. Most say that it comes out of slavery and there is more than enough evidence to support that historical claim. There are people who believe that Black people who have light skin are treated better than Black people who have darker skin. The question is, by whom? Who treats light skinned Blacks better than dark skinned Blacks? Is it white people, or is it Black people? Think about it. Really, really think about it. I don't think that we can say that all dark skinned Black people are treated equally, nor can we say that about the lighter ones. Has this phenomenon plagued, followed and handicapped us for generations, or have we babied this situation and made it worse in our minds? Have you ever lost a job to anyone who was lighter, or darker than you? Have you ever lost love because of one, or the other? Have you felt like this situation is more serious than people try to make it, or is it actually just a waste of positive energy, because Black is Black, at the end of the day?
