Legendary scribe and sportscaster,Dr.M.Lee"Doc" Stanley returns to the airwaves again with his renowned and legendary radio show,the award winning,'Sports In Depth'.

This evening on the birthday of Jack Roosevelt Robinson,who would have been 94,Doc and iconic posse remember and reflect on the great Brooklyn Dodger and baseball legend.

Born in Cairo, Ga,Jackie was the youngest of five children. His family moved to Pasadena,California. Where Jackie attented UCLA.And to date he is the only American-Student Athlete to ever letter in four sports. Baseball,football.track and basketball.

April 15th 1947,in Brooklyn New York at renowned Ebbetts Field,Jackie took the field and broke the long standing racist baseball color line.

Jackie played his first year at first base.Part of a defensive move as it was felt playing his normal second base position would put him in constant harms' way.

Jackie won the first ever Rookie Of The Year award in basball history. He too is to date the last National league first basemen to lead the league in stolen bases.
In 1949 he became both the first Black-African-American player to win both the MVP award and a batting title. He hit his number that year as he batted,.342.

Jackie retired in 1956,leading the Dodgers to six pennants and a world championship in 1955.Twice the Dodgers had lost the pennant on the very last day of the season.

Mr. Robinson was at one time the New York State Boxing commissionaire .And was a V.P.  at the famed, Cock Full of Nuts.

Two of his most famous quotes were,"Above all else I hate to lose'. And,"A life is not important except for the impact it has on another life." His impact is immortal.
