My guest tonight is Asadah Kirkland, author of the book Beating Black Kids and Founder of the Soulful Chicago Book Fair. Asadah has been a part of the education and literary industries for over 20 years. She taught media studies, within Chicago's alternative High School system for 4 years. She has been a remarkable force in family development. As a family advocate, Asadah instructed families on issues surrounding discipline and its effects on child brain development at the Harlem Children’s Zone’s Baby College program. She served as an administrator at Boys and Girls Harbor, an afterschool program in Harlem, for more than five years and as a Community Representative with the Brooklyn Perinatal Coalition, supporting families through the Administration for Children’s Services. Bring your pen and pencil to add to your library of wisdom and knowledge!!
