BlackRock is a hedge fund, a financial firm that invests the money of the very wealthy, performs many of the functions of a bank (such as creating “derivative” securities, which isn’t much different from creating money like banks do), and, using the power of their huge wealth under management, forcing the hands of the many, many companies whose shares they own to do their bidding in both the economic and political realms.
