Darryl Clark's Progressive News Weekly with Stephanie DeGeneste & Musical Guests

This week we will conduct an interview of a local theater production group on their depiction of August Wilson's classic play, "Fences".  We will discuss the relevance of the play to the current environment in society (especially for Black men); in addition, joining PNW will be special guest Mrs. Stephanie DeGeneste - Educator, community advocate, motivational speaker, and author.  Mrs. DeGeneste will discuss the state of education in America, community activism, progressive movements in our society, and her new book, "What God Can Do with a Slice of Bread and a Teaspoon of Peanut Butter". This educational experience will be especially helpful for students.  Also, we continue our series on the 'influence of music' with musicians who will discuss the influence and transition of music within and on our society, especially within the Black community. This is part of a series that we will continue to revisit over the months ahead.  This week our music series guests will include: Mr. Larry "Ice" Winfree - nationally recognized  musician/vocalist (having worked with Ray, Goodman & Brown (the Moments), The Whispers, Luther Vandross, and many others); Ms. Norma Clark - jazz vocalist, trained in classical music, Ms. Clark is an authentic Jazz vocalist for over 40 years; Mr. Lyle Omolayo - a progressive urban rap artist who is part of a duo named "Negros Americanos" that perform with a message of hope and unity.  Note: there will be an announcement of an opportunity to participate this weekend (Saturday, 6-23-18) in a town hall panel discussion (including "Ice" & Lyle) on "The Future of Black Music in America", Hosted by Frontiers International - Plainfield, NJ.
