Center of Light Radio Show with host, Keith Anthony Blanchard
Show Topic: I will speaking with Rod Roddy of Louisiana's LeRoux.
In 1978 a rock group was formed out of the Levee Band. They were best-known for songs like "Nobody Said It Was Easy" or "Lookin' For the Lights" (their highest charting single), "Addicted," "Carrie's Gone," "Take a Ride On a Riverboat" with its 4-part a capella intro and the regional smash "New Orleans Ladies."
Their early music, combined many elements such as funk, R&B, Dixieland jazz, rock, and some Cajun flavoring, thus defying a pigeonhole into one definable category, like many other diverse Louisiana artists common to an area known for its many musical influences and tastes. After recording the album Up in 1980, they became a noteworthy exponent of the developing AOR sound.
Born in Houma, Louisiana, (a renowned pianist), Rod Roddy was a huge inspiration in the music of his band. His funky rhythm and incredible improvisation skills were a key ingredient in the musical textures that gave Louisiana's LeRoux its unique sound.
