Not too long ago, I wanted to look up the history of men's underwear so I can determine exactly when one of my characters would begin to wear long johns.

TL:DR -- I had to wash my eyes.

There were things Google brought up that I wish I'd never seen. Not to mention, I got sidetracked with a lot of extraneous information I didn't need to know. (I didn't really need to know that much about loincloths, but it was interesting and horrifying at the same time.) And, there were other things I wish I could burn from my memory.

But, no matter what genre you write in, sooner or later, you'll find yourself having to research things for your books for realism and authenticity. Google, Bing, and whatever other search engine you use aren't always the best options to do research. You want to use your time effectively so you can get back to writing your masterpiece.

Join me as I chat with my returning guest co-host and contributor Bill Fortenberry as we share online research engines great for research on Wednesday, September 21st at 7 PM Eastern time.
