Am I On My Own .... From An Athlete's Perspective

Should our child or any child be left out to support themselves in the process ofcollege recruiting?  Often times we encounter athletes who are focused and driven by the desire to succeed.  How do we provide support to these athletes or do they even want our support?  Put yourself in their situation, would you make out?  Does it truly matter what sport we are talking about, whether it is basketball, football, soccer, baseball of even tennis we are talking about sports.
