Every year there are players who get the snub from the NFL Combine. The Liberty defensive back Walt Aikens is still waiting for the invitation. Aikens is a rare sized defensive back with plenty of raw ability. Standing at six feet and a little over 200 pounds (205), Aikens looks the part of an NFL corner. "I like him," Gus Bradley said. "I like big Walt. I think it's his spirit. We talked earlier what we are looking for, and I think he had tremendous spirit for the game. We talked about some of the techniques he needs to work on, but his overall spirit is what really jumped out." Aikens is like a gem that needs to be polished. He played in the Medal of Honor Bowl prior to his invite to the Senior Bowl. Now the question remains will he get the ultimate invite and head to Indianapolis for the NFL Scouting Combine. "I work as hard as any of the guys out there if not more," Aikens said in Mobile, Alabama after a team meeting. "Felt like I had something to prove down here and felt like I proved it. Feel like if I get that combine invite I'll have more to prove." Aikens impressed all week in Mobile at practices. "Stay in your zone Walt," yelled one of the Jacksonville Jaguars coaches. "Don't get out of whack stay on top." He is still a little raw around the edges but you can't coach guys into being his size and the technique of the position can be harnessed in. "I'll show up to perform," Aikens said confidently. "I'm not going to back down."
