Concordia junior linebacker Takari Johnson (Lansing, MI/Lansing Eastern HS), a 6-1, 225lb, was a tackling machine for the Cards this year, who managed only one win on the season. Johnson not only led the Cardinals, but the NAIA this season in total tackles. The anchor or the defense also led the Cardinals in sacks and tackles for a loss.  His 112.5 total tackles and 6.5 sacks are good for the single season record in the Cardinals' record books.  He is also currently the Cardinals All-Time record holder for tackles (201.5), tackles for a loss (36.5), and sacks (9.0) in a career. The dominate season earned Johnson First Team Defense in the linebackers' position, in the MSFA Mideast League. In Takari's freshman year,  he appeared in three games and averaged over 13 tackles. As a sophomore, he lead the Cards in tackles and was named All-Conference 2nd Team.
