NFL Diamond In the Rough, Running back Calvin Middleton

Ohio Valley Offensive Player of the Week (Oct 14) Middleton set a JacksonvilleStaterecord with 38 carries, helping the Gamecocks to a 22-21 victory over Southeast Missouri, finishing with 191 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Middleton played in talented but crowded backfield that had three players have 100 plus carries. Lead the team in rushing in both 2009 (635), 2010 (534) and second in 2011 with career high 753. Former SEC running back Washaun Ealey the transfer from the Georgia Bulldogs received the bulk of the carries and finished ahead of Middleton. JacksonvilleStatehead coach Jack Crowe said "he can do it all - block, run and catch" when talking about the talents of Middleton. The running backs two-point conversion that helped lead Gamecocks to overtime win in 2010 was EPSN's No.2 'Plays of the Day'.
