Tonight's special guest is Cathy Brochu from Jamesville, New York, who says "My personal background as it relates to Child Abuse would be as a survivor of 13 years of incest, a survivor of family violence and as a survivor of sexual assault from non-family members." Above all, Cathy has evolved, moving from victim to survivor to advocate. She has years of experience as an individual involved with the Family Court System (as a young child) and then as a Caseworker for children who were sexually, physically, and psychologically abused by a parent, parents, and caretakers. She has heard the endless stories and cries for help from young, old, male and female. Working directly with victims, perpetrators and families, Cathy has been recognized by some as a 'trail blazer', and has authored three books related to incest, sexual assault, and family violence, "Lost Innocence", "New Beginnings", and "Beyond Survival". She hopes to enlighten, educate, and empower individuals, families and communities to work toward a healthier, happier future for the children and families of tomorrow. Cathy appreciates each and every day. She realizes that she could have been a statistic rather than a person. In this regard, she celebrates beating the odds and is actively making a difference in the lives of others.
