Host Marsha Joiner with Guest Joy Seguin authored "Is Advocating a Crime? Trust Everyone Trust No one
Medical Aid in Dying (MAiD) is common practice in Canada and currently legal in 10 states plus Washington D.C. in the U.S. How safe is it? Is it a choice or an obligation? What are the requirements to be approved? Are there safety gates to keep someone from abusing the system and killing others at their convenience? What are the ethical or spiritual concerns? Others ask, What about my rights to end my life as I see fit – My Body, My Choice! How is this different from hospice?
It is clearly a Pandora’s box dilemma with both sides passionate about their views. Aren’t we all disabled to some degree during our life-time and would meet criteria for hospice or MAiD?
We will discuss the questions above and others with Joy Seguin who lives in Canada and has become very familiar with Canadian laws regarding this and has experience with advocating for the elderly and disabled. She shares her personal experience reflecting the extreme hardship that advocates face seeking accountability and justice for a loved one.
Know the facts, Educate yourself on both sides of issues so you can make a real choice and then spread the word.
