Despite multiple setbacks including change of venue weeks before the festival, the organizers accidentally hiring people who had no experience in food concessions, and last-minute ban on off-duty police officers from working the festival (and this does not begin to address the many setbacks during the festival), the Woodstock Music Festival of 1969 became possibly the most popular music event in history and has become a lexicon of the 1960s counterculture generation.
