The label “one hit wonder” is an enigma when most commonly used in regard to music performers with only one top-40 hit single that overshadows their other work. The song looms larger than the artist and may be a positive or a negative force. It can serve as the foundation to build an entire career as a performer or it can be the puzzling albatross that is forever linked to type-cast the artist for only one song. However, there is one artist who uniquely defies logic when discussing one hit wonders and it is Tony Burrows, who describes himself as “the only one hit wonder who did it five times” - all in the 1970s. Although not a household name, when it comes to chart success, this Brit is a record breaker and in this show, the Timmons Brothers will examine why he is one of a kind while exploring other one hit artists.
