The Timmons Brothers: “The Summer of Love – 1967 (The Golden Anniversary of Art, Fashion, and Music)”

Beginning with the Human Be-In at the Golden Gate Park in San Francisco to popularize the hippie culture, it would lead to the Summer of Love of 1967. Although this social phenomenon of counter culture interest included politics, drugs, and a love peace philosophy, central to the scene was the artistic world of music, painting, and fashion. From various areas of London in Britain (where the Beatles provided an anthem to this movement with “All You Need Is Love”) to Greenwich Village in Manhattan on the east coast, this social spirit of youth quickly spread, but the epicenter of the psychedelic-flower power world was the Haight-Asbury neighborhood of San Francisco where at its zenith, 100,000 mostly young people converged. With the release of Sgt. Pepper, the growing popularity of outdoor music festivals with the improvement of sound technology highlighted by the Monterey Pop Festival, and the amazing music, it was a summer to remember 50 years later.
