Are we on a downward spiral to destruction as so many democratic powerhouses in world history? In 1824 the election was filled with corruption and John Adams was made president over Andrew Jackson in what has be come known as the "Corruption Bargain". John Adams did not win the popular vote nor the electorol college but was selected via a closed door meeting in the house of representatives. Even thought this was the way it was laid out the presidency was given to one the people did not want. Are we in the Great Divide?
