Thoughout our history, religious persecution has run amouk even though our constitution is based on religious freedom and as a secular nation' George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and John Adams were very much against the formation of a church state but recognized that it was everyones unalienable right to practice there own religion. and not be required to be in a monarchy where the head of state is also the head of the established religion. Is the US foundation based on secularism orare we a state where religion has become a force of politics.
