Ethos

There was a time when life was a mystery and we were young.  Today, some of us have a preference for a simple life, that revolves around material things.  Even the marvels of science and art cannot compel all men to curiousity.

Maybe this is why a curious seem to gravitate toward one another, to learn. We aren't so cleaver that we can distinguish the genius hidden in the masses, but every now and then one shows his true self.

Men of vision are an interesting phenomena. The enrichment of men of vision is the fertile grounds of freemasonry.  One of us might want to believe we share that in common; the hope and unfailing optimism of the scientist or artist.  Remember, we also have the pedestrian within the order who feels safe within the boundaries of the things he knows and uncomfortable with his own potential.  He is what he is. So too, are the rest of us.
