“Results of the Call”
I Peter 2:1-10
In Leviticus 20:7, the LORD told Israel to “Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy.” Peter followed up on this same theme in I Peter 1:15 when he wrote, “But as he which has called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation.” God’s people are always a special people, regardless of their time in history. In our time there is great pressure for the Christian to blend in with a godless society; but in these last days, it is imperative that we stand out from the world around them. This week’s lesson draws attention to our present calling as the people of God and how we should respond as a result of our calling. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light” (I Peter 2:9).
