Center for Immigration Studies National Security Fellow Todd Bensman has drawn upon his extensive experience in Texas as a reporter and as an official at the Texas Department of Public Safety’s Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division to write a new book. In America's Covert Border War: The Untold Story of the Nation's Battle to Prevent Jihadist Infiltration, he examines in detail the often unnoticed American government efforts to prevent jihadists from infiltrating the United States via the same illegal immigration routes so many millions have used to seek better lives in America. He notes how mass migration influxes during Europe's refugee crisis of recent years have already demonstrated how jihadists can hide in these population streams in order to establish deadly terror networks in Western societies. Yet immigration politics in America make many policymakers unwilling to explain openly to the American people the true jihadist threat on America's southern border and how American officials for years have been working to combat these dangers. What lessons does the European experience hold? How great is the jihadist infiltration threat to America? What is necessary to prevent future jihadist attacks in the American homeland? Bensman will discuss these and other matters with show host Andrew E. Harrod.
