In relation to the kingdom of God, the devil always sets up his kingdom at the very same time in opposition to God. (TPJS, p. 365)

During millions of years two different systems for salvation polarized–similar to the earth’s North and South Pole. The difference was as drastic as night and day, so eventually they were bound to clash.

Nephi tells about those in the kingdom of the devil:

. . . all those who belong to the kingdom of the devil are they who need fear, and tremble, and quake; they are those who must be brought low in the dust; they are those who must be consumed as stubble; and this is according to the words of the prophet. (1 Nephi 22:23)

So in reality there are two kingdoms to study.

*              Both began in the pre-mortal life.

*              Both were advocated by master spirits.

*              Both were kingdoms that would continue throughout our mortal world.

*              Both would continually seek for converts.

*              Both would be constantly at war with each other.
