The God who gave us life gave us liberty at the same time.
I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. (Wisdom of Thomas Jefferson, pp. 22 & 182)
What was the war in heaven all about? It wasn’t about smoking nor drinking; nor which day was the true Sabbath; nor the kind of job or salary we would like. The dispute was not over where we would live, nor who our friends would be. The battle was over freedom and free agency–the same thing over which nearly all wars are fought.
Wars usually begin with someone wanting to rule over someone else. That means one person must give up certain rights, privileges, and freedoms to the other. This may be necessary during employment, as we usually don’t have a choice about hours, salary, location, conditions, etc. But we do have the freedom to change jobs, or be self-employed–or even unemployed.
