“Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, which pertained to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.”  Now Abner told Ishbosheth he was joining King David who was king of Judah but now he would become the king of Judah and Israel and Abener did just that joined David and he became King of all. Abner got killed because he killed Asahel the brother of Joab. And when Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands were feeble, and all the Israelites were troubled.
