Barbara Jones, MS, a Washington, D.C. native, and passionate community advocate, is the proud co-founder of the Humanity Coalition. Jones received her undergraduate degree in Public Health and Biology and later a master's in counseling from the University of the District of Columbia. Jones had a progressive career with the Government of the District of Columbia. She retired from the D.C. Department of Human Services in 2017, where she served in many capacities, including Supervisor Social Services Representative. In this role, Barbara would provide resources to underprivileged families and individuals throughout the city. Jones was appointed in 2014 and is currently a D.C. Commissioner on the Board of Architecture, Interior, and Landscape. Prior to this appointment, Jones served as a D.C. Commissioner of the Arts and Humanities from 2012-2014. As a former D.C. Ward 8 Democratic Vice President, Ward 8 Democratic Event Chair & Membership Chair, and D.C. Fort Stanton Civic Association President, Jones helped to lead voter registrations, annual school supplies and turkey giveaways, and toy giveaways.
