Dr. James Anthony Jackson, Sr. is a native of Mobile, Alabama. He is the second of four children born to Dr. Michael and First Lady Barbara Jackson. He accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of seven at Aimwell Missionary Baptist Church where his father Dr. Michael Jackson is the Senior Pastor.
He attended Bishop State Junior College for two years prior to transferring to the historic Tuskegee University. He received his calling to the ministry at the age 20 while at Tuskegee. In 1997 he graduated from the institution, acquiring his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Dr. Jackson went on to enroll in Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA., where he received his Master of Divinity degree in 2000. In December 2007 he received his Doctoral Degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, OH.
Fellowship Church is an evangelical Christian megachurch located in Grapevine, Texas, a suburb of Fort Worth, that is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. FC is one of the largest and fastest-growing churches in the United States, with an estimated attendance exceeding 20,000. FC's pastor is Ed Young, since its opening in 1989.
