Jeremiah, was instructed to tell the people to go back to God and follow his path.
The prophet Jeremiah had one of the more difficult tasks in the history of Israel. His divine assignment was to admonish the citizens of ancient Judah to return to the Lord, from whom they had wandered.
The nation was languishing under the threat of impending punishment (the Babylonian captivity), and repentance was its only hope. Note, therefore, the prophet’s plea. This passage contains such a range of truths that it is worthy of careful analysis — even for our day (cf. Rom. 15:4).Jeremiah 6:16
