While she’s been a working musician for years, she admits she’s still figuring out how to navigate the business side of music. “I’ve never been great at releasing or marketing my music. But now I’m learning, because I want people to hear what I’m creating. I want these songs to reach people.” In addition to her own projects, Durand is passionate about teaching singers to actually enjoy their own voice. She offers voice lessons to singers in Los Angeles, where she also produces original music for her students. “I love helping other singers find their voice — not just vocally, but creatively. My goal is to empower artists to trust their instincts and embrace the joy of improvisation.” Durand’s artistry is deeply rooted in collaboration and connection. She believes music is a universal language that has the power to bridge cultures and experiences. “Music is transformative. It’s a way to express the human experience and connect with people on a soul level.” Her band, LYRA & THE LIGHT, continues to gain momentum in the indie scene, blending cinematic alt-rock with grunge and folk influences. Their next show is at The Virgil in Silverlake on January 30, 2025.
