1. This is a fast called by the leader of a groupor the Pastor of a church.
2. It is entered into by the entire group or congregation.
3. (11 Chron. 20:3), "And Jehospaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah."
4. (Joel 1:14), "Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry, (make known publicly or announce), unto the Lord . . ."
Personal fast-- a fast in which an individual enters into; it may be for special purpose or it could be on a regular basis.
A. (Matt. 6:16-18), "Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces that they may appear unto men to fast.
Verily I say unto you, they have their reward. But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; that thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto the Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth thee in secret, shall reward thee openly.”
