GM Darrell Sarjeant and Sifu Restita DeJesus welcome Silat teacher Johnny Silmon to the show!

Name:  Johnny Silmon

D.O.B: 6 August 1971 (Age 41)

P.O.B: London, England

Styles Practiced:  Pencak Silat Anyar Cimande Buhun (own synthesis)

Silek Tuo Pagu Pagu, Maenpo Cikalong, Silat Para Wali, Benjang Gulat (Sundanese wrestling), Sabhandar

Organisation: The W.A.I (Warrior Arts of Indonesia).  The mission of The W.A.I is to preserve and promote the precious martial arts of Indonesia.

Johnny Silmon began his formal martial arts training at the age of 11 where he took Judo as part of his Physical Education on the school curriculum.  He found he was a natural and won the Gold medal in the inter-schools Brent Judo Championships.  However after this initial year he found himself seeking a more dynamic style and began training Wing Chun for around twelve months before once again looking for another style.  He found it as a 13 year old in the form of Northern Mantis Kung Fu but with a Kuntao edge to it.  His teacher Sifu Jerry Tann was Indonesian of Chinese origins and it could be said this laid the seeds for Johnny to later go on to investigate Indonesian Pencak Silat.  He trained as a private student under Sifu Tann from 1984 to 1987 and then again for a time in 1990.
