Whether it’s a barbecue or cookout, brisket is a great cut of meat that is sure to keep everyone coming back for more. This cut of beef comes from the breast or lower chest of the cow. Brisket is extremely tasty and full of great benefits. Brisket contains B vitamins which are necessary for maintaining healthy hair, skin, energy levels, brain function, and cellular metabolism. It also contains iron which supports blood cell production. Zinc which is needed for boosting the immune system. Brisket contains a protein called collagen which is important for joint health and firm skin. When brisket is cooked, the collagen breaks down and turns into gelatin, which dissolves into the meat and contributes to its flavor. Brisket contains high levels of oleic acid which increases levels of HDL, or good cholesterol which lowers your risk of heart disease. In addition, it lowers your LDL, or bad cholesterol. Also, brisket has a low melting point. Brisket fat has a low melting point which adds to its juiciness. So, the next time you plan a backyard feast, make sure you include brisket as one of your items on the menu.
