June is here and brings its own set of celebrations. Added to the celbrations this year is the T-20 Cricket World Cup in the Caribbean and the United States. It is a celebratory atmosphere as the best cricket teams in the world do battle to snatch the coveted trophy. You can ask Donna about that. Despite the celebratory atmosphere the world is still in turmoil but if the fans of Caribbean Global Voices would have anything to say about that, it would be different. So let's talk.

Against the background of our celebration some one has cautioned that Caribbean people are fiddling while the Caribeean is burning. A new prime minister has been appointed in Haiti but the turmoil continues. One comment is that we do not hear about it much in the mainstream media because they want us to think that the their leaders have resolved Haiti's problems. But the resolution to Hait's problems lies in the hands of the Haitian people, not in the hands of Canada, France and the United States. The method applied to achieving this resolution strongly suggest that the Haitian people do not have the measure of intelligence and civility to resolve their own problems. There is turmoil in St. Martin as the government is dissolved before it has even been swron in. New elections are on the horizon.St. Kitts-Nevis is in turmoil. Quite apart from the rash of violent incidents which include the loss of lives, the Government and its ministers are being called out for corruption and being sued.
