It's Puerto Rico-Virgin Islands Friendship Day in the Virgin Islands, It's carnival in Miami; some where in Germany they are celebrating something called Oktoberfest and it's the Indigenous People's Day all around the world. And all that is because Ocotber is here so we might as well call it all OCTOBERFEST. It is that wonderful month with the greatest number of birthday celebrants. Let's hope you have already begun to celebrate and continue all month long. Caribbean Global Voices will be right here to celebrate with you. Yea we also hoping that October will bring the cool days in the Caribbean we've been accustomed to at this time of year. It's Hot! Hot! Hot! all day and night. But maybe we can cool things down with a hot topic of conversation. So let's talk.

A white Christian preacher in Georgia delivered a sermon in which he attempted to validate slavery. The pastor insists that if it wasn't for slavery Black people would remain in Africa doing their voodoo and all end up in hell. But slavery gave them an opportunity to get to heaven. Again the white man annointing himself as the saviour of Black people. Aren't these people tired of trying to validate their evil? How did they get away with transforming Christianity, which originated in a philosophy of "respect for humanity" into a doctrine of dehumanization to serve their narrow interests? Are there really still Christian churches that deliver this kind of message? How does a message like this gets to fit so easily into Christianity? With messages like this do they really expect people to take Christianity seriously? Come on in. Join the conversation. Tell us what you think or what you want to talk about. We will be happy to hear from you.
