Who doesn't love potato salad and banana pudding? That's southern-style comfort food at it's epicure best...and that is what Chef Cherise is cooking up for us today!!! So grab your pots and join Hammer, Ellen J and Chef Cherise in the kitchen, and let's get to cookin'!!! If you would like to cook along with us, here are the recipes:
Potato Salad: 10 potatoes, washed, 5 hardboiled eggs, ½ onion, minced, 15 Spanish olives, minced, Lawry’s seasoning salt, 1 tablespoon sweet relish, 1 tablespoon mustard Black pepper ¼ cup Mayo. Directions: In a large pot, place the potatoes, water, and a tablespoon each of onion and garlic powder. Boil until potatoes are soft. Peel while they are hot. (Use a knife and towel to hold the potato while peeling) Peel the hardboiled eggs and remove the yolks. Mash the yolks and set aside. Place the potatoes into a bowl and cut into pieces. Add the mayo, onions, relish, olives, egg yolks, Lawry’s, and pepper. Mix together and refrigerate until cold. Serve and enjoy.
Banana Pudding: 2 boxes of Nabisco vanilla wafers 6 Boxes of vanilla pudding 12 Ripe yellow bananas Milk (follow what’s on the package) Directions: In a medium saucepan, bring milk to a boil. Stir in the pudding, one box at a time, using a whisk, over low heat. Once you have all the pudding in the pot, turn off the heat. Continue stirring to ensure that it doesn’t stick. Line the bottom of a non-metal pan with a layer of cookies. Cut a banana into thin slices and lay the slices on top of the cookies. Cover the layer with some of the pudding; repeat layer of cookies and bananas until the pudding is gone. Layer cookies across the top and refrigerate for 4 hours.
