It's Friday, and that means that our best chef, Chef Cherise Kateri Cox, will be joining Hammer & Ellen J in the morning, to once again cook up something great in the kitchen!!! This week, Chef Cherise will show us how to make a couple of different BBQ sauces, whose main ingredients happens to be Vodka and Tequila.
If you would like to join in and make these recipes live on the show, here are the ingredients and directions:
Tequila BBQ sauce: 6 large cans tomato paste 2 can tomato sauce 1 Grapefruit 2 Tablespoons mustard ½-Cup honey 1 Cup Dark Brown Sugar 6 garlic cloves finely chopped 1 large yellow onion finely chopped 2 chipotle peppers finely chopped 1 ½ cup Tequila Coat the bottom of a large pot with vegetable oil and heat on a low fire. Add the onions, garlic, and peppers, and cook for 1 minute. Add the following in order and mix well between each addition – mustard; tomato paste and sauce; tequila; sugar. Cook for 20 minutes. Cut the grapefruit into quarters and remove the seeds; do not remove the rind. Add to the pot and mix. Cover and cook for another half hour.
Drunken Sauce: 5 Onions diced 2 cups Garlic minced 3 cups Brown sugar ¼ cup Corn starch 2 bottles Absolut Vodka (Preserve a ¼ cup on the side) In a pan, brown the onions and garlic. Add the Whiskey away from the flame. Allow to become hot. Add the Brown sugar and mix well. Mix the corn starch and remaining Vodka and pour into the pot, stirring, allow to thicken on a low flame.
