Wel,come to the show!!! You have the #1 shock-jock on blogtalk, and Miss Un-PC, Ellen Johnson...."The only thing pc about me is when I turn on my PC"!!! Today on the show, Brian and I welcome into the studio, former Suffolk County, New York police detective turned author, Wayne Zurl.
Most of Wayne's books are based on real police cases that he investigated, supervised or just knew a lot about from his time as a detective in New York (Suffolk County Police on Long Island).
Wayne Zurl grew up on Long Island and retired after twenty years with the Suffolk County Police Department, one of the largest municipal law enforcement agencies in New York and the nation. For thirteen of those years he served as a section commander supervising investigators. He is a graduate of SUNY, Empire State College and served on active duty in the US Army during the Vietnam War and later in the reserves. Zurl left New York to live in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee with his wife, Barbara. Twenty-seven (27) of his Sam Jenkins novelette mysteries have been published individually as eBooks and many produced as audio books. Two anthologies are currently available (FROM NEW YORK TO THE SMOKIES & MURDER IN KNOXVILLE), putting eleven of these novelettes in print or as collections in all the usual eBook formats. His full-length novels are: A NEW PROSPECT, A LEPRECHAUN’S LAMENT, HEROES & LOVERS, PIGEON RIVER BLUES, A TOUCH OF MORNING CALM, A CAN OF WORMS and HONOR AMONG THIEVES. Two additional anthologies that will put twelve (12) more novelettes in print for the first time are coming up in 2017 and a new novel, A BLEAK PROSPECT, is on tap for 2018. Zurl has won Eric Hoffer and Indie Book Awards, and was named a finalist for a Montaigne Medal and First Horizon Book Award.
