On this day, Dr Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday, his infamous, "I Have A Dream", speech, is one man's dream and that's all it is---a dream. Our nation is divided more than ever, and black people are divided within themselves more than ever. As human beings, we are not all absolute. That includes religion, ideas and wants; but what makes Dr Martin Luther King Jr and John Lewis different, is what they did. (the difference between a coward and a hero is what actions they take in the face of adversity.)
We all play Monday night quarterback which can distort history and shame the legacy of our heroes. But many of us will not put our lives on the line to further others to prosper, and to live in dignity. You can take sides in this political election and that is okay; but what we must not do, is disgrace, slander, criminalize the heroes who came before us, and made our lives easier for opportunity, and just being treated fairly.
So we salute Dr Martin Luther King Jr, and all the other Civil Rights heroes in the Hispanic community, the Women's movement, gay rights, Jewish movement, amd all other Civil Rights leaders across the board.
Join us today, if you would like to give thanks, and appreciate him, to whomever has inspired you to fight the good fight.
ALL LIVES MATTER!!!!
