C.D. - El-Hajj Minister Malcolm Malik Omawale Shabazz (Earth Day)

Join us this Saturday, May 21st, for another discussion on the life, death and legacy of El-Hajj Minister Malcolm Malik Omawale Shabazz, a man, while long gone from among us, impacts us in many ways, as the world events speak to the things he said to us.

While recognizant of the various "schools of thought" regarding Malcolm X, I for one, find it hard to think of one so insightful, hard-hitting, relevant and tragic; a reflection of the ever-continuing saga of what has become the "black experience" of nearly 50 million black men, women and children, here in the United States of America, not to mention the millions of others in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America.

One thing that must be said about our "experience", is what seems to be the obliviousness, displayed among black people, in light of the black-to-black crimes that are committed on a daily basis.

While we scream "black lives matter", the massacre in Wilkinsburgh, Pa., has all but been forgotten. To date, one suspect has been taken into custody, but where is the collective concern? 

Is this what Malcolm fought and died for?

Something to think about.

And, my prayers go out for all of the souls, lost in the horrific Egyptian Airlines Crash.  I hope that Allah provides solace and comfort to the families. I can only imagine how I'd take this, if a member of my family was on board - despite the cause.
