Critical Discourse is proud to introduce, Community Activist, Sister Maryam A. Samad of Brooklyn, New York, who is running for the political post of the Democratic Party Female District Leader, for Brooklyn’s 55th Assembly District and its 46th Election District.

Sister Samad has devoted over 40 years to dedicated service to our community.  A mother of 5, grandmother of 3 and great-grandmother of 2, she brings to a table, a full resume of supporting healthy family and civic life.

If thing go her way, she will be the first she elected, she will be the first Muslim elected official in the state of New York.

Sister Samad brings with her, an extensive and impressive resume; founder and Director of the Children’s House and Youth Center, President of the President’s Council of Brownsville, former Area Representative of the Brownsville, Head Start Program. She was also instrumental in bringing Advocates for Children to Brownsville, and is the President of the Northeast Muslim Women’s Alliance.

I for one, and I think I speak for the rest of the Critical Discourse Family, want to learn more about and from our Sister Maryam Samad, so join me in welcoming her to Critical Discourse.
