This week marked an intense round of House discussions between Darryl Issa  (R – Calif.) and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder over the DOJ’s handling of the Fast and Furious operation, where the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform voted 23-17 to hold the Attorney General in Contempt of Congress, for in their view, his not being forthcoming with necessary documents to determine exactly what went wrong. It should be noted that a U.S. Border Patrol Agent was shot and killed, and reportedly hundreds of Mexicans have been killed by drug cartels. Very likely, a full vote will go before the full House of Representatives next week.

The Democrats, as expected, have referred to the Republicans effort in this regard as partisan, even referring to it as a “witch-hunt”. President Obama, not wishing to reveal further documents regarding Fast and Furious, invoked for the first time, Executive Privilege, allowing him for now, to keep the documents from scrutiny.

Closer to home, on Father’s Day, many gathered in Manhattan to peacefully protest against the controversial “Stop and Frisk” program, authorized by the Mayor and Police Commissioner, and carried out by the New York Police Department.

Critical Discourse will cover both topics, and we invite you all to chime in and bring the eloquence and passion of your opinions and arguments.
