The President "shall from time to time give to the Congress Information of the State of the Union, and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient..." U.S. Constitution, Art. II, sec. 3.

No, I did not see the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday, and had no plans to. I will say though, that with all of the hype leading up to it, one would have thought this meant we were going to receive a divine message from “The One”.

As with any SOTU, President Obama used it as an opportunity to present what he sees as the present state of America, and what needs to be done, moving forward.

A key point in his address was what he deems to be contributing factors to economic inequality. In fact, he then took his message on a 3-day tour of states he hopes to win in the November 2012 election.

Even though the GOP has yet to nominate a candidate for president, I guess it could be said that the race for the White House is officially on.

On Critical Discourse, we will take the time to review and analyze president Obama’s State of the Union Address, and how it stands to shape the political and societal infrastructure for 2012 and the next 4 years. While I didn’t see the SOTU, I’m sure many of you have, and will provide critical and meaningful commentary.

Tune in at 6:30AM, this Saturday, January 27th.
