"Present your bodies as a living sacrifice" Romans 12:1-2
We are told that we are saved by the sacrifice made on our behave by Jesus Christ. Now if Jesus did not come until the New Testament, then how were the people of the Old Testament saved. In the Old Testament God required animal sacrifices to provide a temporary covering of sins and to foreshadow the perfect and complete sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Animal sacrifice is an important theme found throughout Scripture because “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness”. When Adam and Eve sinned, animals were killed by God to provide clothing for them Genesis 3:21 And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. After the flood receded, Noah sacrificed animals to God.
Today we are asked as stated in Romans 12:1 I Beseech you therefore, brethren by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is you reasonable service. We have to learn that the things we use to do we shouldn’t do no more. Christ allowed us to have a new life and because of what He did for us we should want to live as a sacrifice, which pleases Him, by take on His image.
