“Don’t let the greener grass fool you” Luke 15:11-20

Sin always promise more than it can give.

This is “The Parable of the Prodigal Son”.  The word prodigal means spending money or resources freely and recklessly; wastefully extravagant.

The main character in this parable is the forgiving father. This is a comparison of God who is always forgiving, always constant and cannot change.  In telling the story Jesus identifies Himself with God in His loving attitude to the lost. The young son symbolizes the lost and is compared to tax collectors and sinners of that day, tax collectors were unfair in their dealing and despise. The elder son represents the self-righteous and is compared to the Pharisees and teachers of the law of that day. They knew the law but not how to love.

The Lord does not treat us as our sins deserve, which is mercy or repay us according to our iniquity, which is grace.   Instead of condemnation, there is rejoicing for a son or daughter who had been dead but now is alive, who once was lost but now is found. This is the picture of what occurs in heaven over one repentant sinner.

If you feel that something is misssing in your life and you realize that you need a Savior call the pray line today!
