"Consider your ways"  Haggai 1    "Always put God first"

The Jews became confused about what their true priorities were. Haggai was sent to them with a message of exhortation and encouragement to complete the construction of the temple. Shortly afterward he was joined and supported by the prophet Zechariah. The people were excusing themselves for not finishing God’s house by saying “the time has not come, the time that the LORD’s house should be built” (Haggai 1:2). God made it clear through the prophet Haggai that the time had indeed come.  When King Cyrus was King God placed it in this heart to let the Jews go back to Jerusalem to rebuild a temple.  The temple that was built by King Solomon was destroyed by the Babylonian.  The Jew left under the leadership of Zerubbabel  and Joshua.  While they were rebuilding, there was a lot of opposition from their enemies so they gave up and the work stopped. Only the foundation was built when the worked stop. Now fifteen year later Haggai comes with a message from God to encourage them to complete the work that was started.
