Hitchhiking with Larry David tells the hysterical tale of the author’s misadventures on Martha’s Vineyard.  Fleeing the pain of a recent breakup, the author makes the catastrophic mistake of staying with his highly neurotic parents in their tiny cabin appropriately called, “The Parental Asylum.” Dolman escapes the Asylum and his romantic heartache by hitchhiking around the Island.  There he meets a wide array of characters: The super-rich, homeless, movie stars, common, wise, foolish, and of course, Mr. David.  His repeated encounters with the famous comedian serve as a touchstone for both the laugh-out-loud and the deeply profound.

Dolman shares their conversations as well as others and allows these intimate exchanges to stand in ironic contrast to his unsuccessful attempts to connect with his parents and the self-imposed separation from his one true love, “The Miracle.”
